The Build Period and Health

The most critical time in your season is from three weeks to 12 weeks before an A-priority race. This is when your hard training is the most effective. Missed workouts now have a much greater impact on race performance than at any other time of the year. You must stay healthy and injury-free by whatever means possible.

When training hard your immune system is under a great deal of stress and may not be able to fend off invaders. You must help it… Continue

While these are great for a moment of inspiration and motivation, as… Continue

The course for the 70.3 race is slightly different than the famed Ironman course but still features the burning Hawaiian sun and the all too familiar lava fields. The swim however will keep the competitors side tracked. Filled with marine life the bay will provide a stunning backdrop to a race that should get more pros attending. It seems surprising that only a few turn out each season to race in Hawaii. If this was a cycling race and the course was… Continue

We have been told that flexibility is important for increased performance ability and to decrease the occurrence of injury. Is it? It may be more important to stretch at the right time - or it might be a waste of time.

While you should never base all your decisions on one report, a series of… Continue
