There were 11 races in the series plus a National Championship where the winner would take home $15,000 in prize money.

Scott Molina and Scott Tinley dueled it out in the men's series with Tinley winning 3 races while Molina won 4, including the National Championship.

The woman's side had athletes such as Colleen Cannon and Linda Buchanan taking victories in multiple races. However, the series was dominated by the Puntous twins, Patricia and Sylviane. Patricia had 3 victories in the series while her sister Sylviane, won the National Championship race at Bass Lake.

Thirty years ago, the first triathlon on the US Mainland was held at Hunter Army Airfield, Savannah, Georgia. The race was revived as a Sprint in 2008. It is a great race, well organized, well attended at a great venue. More info can be found on the event's website at http://www.savtri.com/
